SUNRAY ENERGY LLC – FACILITY REPOWER DESERT TORTOISE & BURROWING OWL SURVEYS

SummitWest performed a general biological assessment as well as focused desert tortoise and burrowing owl surveys at the Sunray Facility in Daggett, CA as part of their solar repowering project. SummitWest provided a Biological Report that aided Sunray in its Conditional Use Permit Application.

In order to comply with their Conditional Use Permit, Sunray Energy 2, LLC retained the services of SummitWest Environmental, Inc. to perform focused desert tortoise and burrowing owl surveys. SummitWest also performed a general biological assessment. A team of three biologists worked together to survey the existing solar field. Surveys were conducted at transect spacing approved by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) for both target species, providing 100% coverage. The SummitWest team averaged 14 miles of transects per day and completed the project within budget and to the satisfaction of the client. A final report was written and approved by the County of San Bernardino.
